Tourism at Manali - HP

North of Kullu is a beautiful spot, in the midst of pinewood with high mountains towering above it. Also know as the 'Queen of Hill Stations', Manali at an altitude of 1,829 meters and 40 Km from Kullu was twice the choice of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, when he chose to relax from the affairs of state and seek inspiration anew. Here, he came in 1958 and stayed a month then again in 1960 when he could only snatch 10 days of peace and quiet. Nine years later his daughter, Indira Gandhi, followed her father's example, and also as Prime Minister, chose the same spot for a short holiday. A veritable showpiece of nature with its unspoilt scenic beauty Manali can be made the headquarters of mountain holiday with hikes, climbs and picnics punctuated with sun-bathing, fishing and just plain lotus eating. There are many apple orchards and fruit gardens near the lovely town which are mainly planted by British settlers, one of the biggest ones being owned by Mr. Banon. Winding paths through forests and glades is the setting for the Dhoongri wooden temple which stands concealted in forest of magnificent deodats. Legend has been woven around this temple as indeed, it is inextricable from the life of these cheerful people who over the centuries, have propitaed powerful mountain gods.

Tourism at Shalimar Bagh

Shalimar Bagh

Built by Emperor Jehangir for his wife Nur Jehan, Shalimar, 15 kms from the TRC, is a beautiful garden with sweeping vistas over gardens and lakes, and shallow terraces. The garden is 539 m by 182 m and has four terraces, rising one above the other. A canal lined with polished stones and supplied with water from Harwan runs through the middle of the garden. The fourth terrace, by far the best, was once reserved for royal ladies.

Tourism at Dal Lake - shrinagar

The Kashmir valley is blessed with exotic natural beauty of landscape and water bodies, out of them, the most famous and appealing is the Dal Lake. Dal Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes of India and the second largest in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The lake is surrounded by majestic mountains from three sides and a large number of gardens and orchards have been laid along the shores. The University of Kashmir is also stands along the shores of the Dal Lake. The hundreds of uniquely decorated houseboats which floats on the Dal lake afford an opportunity to tourists to reside on the lake in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

Leading from the Dal lake is the smaller Nagin Lake. Here, the waters are edged by trees of willow and poplar whose reflection is mirrored in the lake. The waters of the lakes are pleasantly cool from mid-May to mid-September. Nagin Lake, which is farther from town and have magnificent views of the mountains.
