Tourism at Rajghat


Rajghat is the place where Mahatma Gandhi, revered as the Father of Nation was cremated. This memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is located between the main Ring Road and the banks of Yamuna River, towards the southeast of Red Fort. It was at the Rajghat where Mahatma Gandhi's last rites were performed on 31st January 1948. At Rajghat you will see a black memorial stone with his last words "Hey Ram" inscribed on it. From local visitors to foreigners, from VIPs to common people, all come and pay homage to the father of nation.

Every Friday, the day when he died, a prayer is held at Rajghat. Daily, except Monday, Gandhi's philosophy is projected here in picture, sculpture and photos form between 10 am till 5 pm. Apart from this feature, there is a Gandhi Memorial Museum at Rajghat where his life and philosophy of Sarvodaya Movement is projected in a film between 9:30 am till 5:30 pm except on Thursday and on Sunday it is featured in Hindi at 4 pm and at 5 pm in English.
